Spark Bird

A collection of portraits of national birds from all over the world. Can you spot them all?

Dates
Summer, 2026

Location
Tiny Gallery x Mulberry Commons, Newark

Alex Kraus is an illustrator currently studying at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Their work celebrates two lifelong passions—birds and drawing. Each illustrated portrait captures the unique beauty and personality of a national bird, combining careful observation with bold color, expressive linework, and richly detailed borders inspired by the natural world.

The term "spark bird" describes the bird that first inspires someone to fall in love with birding. Which bird would be yours? Can you identify all the national birds featured in this exhibition?

All works are available for sale. Please visit our shop to learn more.
